Who am I?…

Hi, I’m Rob and I’ve been a music teacher for 13 years. I started teaching privately while performing professionally in various bands and composing music for myself and others. Over time, I gained high praise from students and the word spread, leading to a full-time teaching career.

In my private lessons, I teach a diverse range of students. Additionally, I’m the guitar teacher at two independent schools and lead multiple ensembles there.

Beyond teaching, I’ve dedicated myself to developing a deep understanding of music, performance, production and composition. This has earned me three university degrees: a BA (hons) First Class, an MA with Distinction and a PhD in Music Composition. Throughout my studies, I consistently achieved top marks and won awards for my student films and media production work.

During my PhD, I used the guitar as a compositional tool to create spatial music. This involves using physical space as a musical parameter with an extensive array of speakers arranged around a performance area, supported by ambisonic and quadrophonic playback formats.

My advanced qualifications and extensive teaching experience make me a unique music tutor. I can provide top-quality instruction to students of all ages and abilities. My extensive experience and PhD-level knowledge allow me to tailor lessons to individual needs effortlessly.

As a tutor, I’m always supportive and encouraging. I’ll do everything I can to help you progress while having fun!
